The Japanese Apartment, located in Gozo, is a serene and uniquely designed space inspired by Japanese minimalism. Combining traditional Japanese aesthetics with tailored furnishing, the apartment provides a tranquil and harmonious environment for its guests.
One of the most eye-catching features of the Japanese Apartment is the ‘floating’ bathroom, cladded with aged wood, which hovers above a tranquil pond.
After several collaborations with Chris Briffa Architects, working on the Japanese Apartment was a welcome opportunity. This project allowed us to utilise less common materials and techniques to bring the Japanese aesthetic to life. The primary materials used were derived from natural sources such as solid oak with raw effect finish, and sliding screens made of a type of plexiglass to mimic the look of rice paper.
